Hello everyone,

I have recently bought this autograph and I am not entirely sure about its authenticity. Can you help me identify if this Vincent Price is real or fake?

Thank you.

That is fine. Here is mine from 1959:

C. 1960 Vincent Price & House on Haunted Hill Candid

I don't know....a thick fiber tip pen can be a good cover for forging since it does not lend itself to letter articulation. The lettering has no real nuance and some is flat due to the pen. I really can't call it one way or the other.

Here is another later signature:

Thank you for your quick answers.

Gollywomp -. Does it come from a good source?  That's sometimes helps in determining authenticity.

Gollywomp, In my humble opinion this has a chance of being an authentic very late in life autograph. Mr. Price did not pass until 1993. Eric's Price is fine, but I could not date it just on that signature or salutation because non of my early in person, or exemplars  have any dates. Etienne, In my humble opinion, the downstroke of "V" and "i" in Vincent is correct. I agree there is a lack of definition in the "r" and "c" in Price. Again in my humble opinion I would attribute to this being a much more flattened old age signature……Not an autograph I would have purchased myself when I was still buying.

Thank you all very much. I got this autograph from an ebay auction. The seller seemed credible to me. I
like the picture. It reminds me of his last role in "Edward Scissorhands", one of my all time favourite movies.

UPDATED: It is certified by Global. Not a good sign. Seller has a bad Heston, Shatner, Burton and others. Everything low price and Buy It Now. Also not a good sign. I've been extremely stressed and very tired - the Price needs to be looked at again with a strict eye. So, I have just done an analysis as I do them - this SP is authentic. Way too many points of positive comparison for a forgery. Late date Price.

I have yet to find a forgery that can pass this type of exam.

Eric, After having a stroke a handful of years ago….I would tell you to step back and take a breath……relax….take a few days. These autographs will be here when you get back. I know I have caused you some stress a handful of times since I joined this site…I now recognize this is a place for information and opinions, not brawls.  This site is better with you and your opinions then without. Even though we disagree now and then…….Again…..take a second for yourself.

Thank you David. You haven't really caused me any stress :) It is more "homestuff" than anything else. I actually find this group a source of relaxation actually. I enjoyed doing the Vincent Price analysis. I used to do much more of that sort of stuff but mostly now i just give advice. Good people here, like you. Thank you for the kind words, ;) I've also been adding some rarities to my 1939 New York World's Fair collection. The piece below for example - none of my collecting buddies have ever seen it before and neither have I. Together we have a cumulative 200 years collecting experience - it is not often I find something totally new.

This method, shown above the Worlds Fair post, of viewing autographs using Photoshop has proven extremely useful over the years. What are some of the things you do to aid in authentication? All answers appreciated.
