MICKEY MANTLE AUTHENTIC EXEMPLARS... READ ALL ABOUT IT!

I just wanted to post these here to see what Fudd the Lowly Mantle Collector can do to help stop the flood of forgeries into the market place. The goal is that we can all start educating ourselves before we buy. To see what a beautiful signature the Mick had, and to learn to distinguish it from the obvious forgeries at first glance. Something TTA, STAT, DREW MAX, GAI GLOBAL (Baker certs) My Favorite Players Reborn (Tony Podsada) & Christopher Morales can't seem to do....at all? You will almost never see a signature in this photo album collection that would match or come close to anything that has been certed by any of those guys. Maybe you'll find 1 in a 1000 if you're lucky. To tell the difference between what an original hand signed Photo by the Mick looks like vs. an obvious Fake at first glance is easy. Give it a try. It's Fun!

As has been told many times, The Mick made more in one signing than his dad did in 1 year. He felt obligated to his fans to give them a "work of art". He did this by signing on just the right spot for the particular photograph he was presented. The size of his signature was determined by how big the sweet spot was. He knew EXACTLY how to fit his signature in so it looked perfect. A thing of beauty really. Please note that these are not all the same signature over and over, but merely a sample from my collection. What I do know is that these are consistent with the WAY Mantle signed and structured his Autograph as we know it. Good luck! FUDD

Steve, for some reason they don't name the issuer of the COA on that particular item.

Pretty sure that isn't even an official MLB ball. Looks like a synthetic cover.

The slow "chugging" effect in the loops of the Ms is really visible in the ballpoint ink.

Simply put, it's a piece of dung of a forgery.

eye yai yai, those close up's really does do the item justice. One can really see just what a pathetic attempt this particular forgery version really is. You can COMPARE @ $3,099.00 though!!!! It really is enough humor to make one wet their pants.

Always Fake At Auction..."where America shops to get bent over and lubed up!" Compare @ being a moron for buying anything there.

Here's a good one on eBay.

A Mickey Mantle signed 8 x 8.5 photo. You think maybe it's 8 x 8.5 instead of 8 x 10 because someone cut 1.5 inches off the bottom because it had a GAI or Morales or STAT hologram?

I think you're right, Mr. Zip. No question that it's the same forgery as the military and Always at Auction forgeries.

Doesn't even look like a photo on photo paper. Looks like a self print from a computer printer. I'd bet a paycheck that this came from Always at Auction. Majority of their stuff looks like this.

I would hate to give away what makes a mantle authentic apposed to the ones that are flat out forgeries if forgers are trying to steal info on this site to better help rip people off....I know for certain how to distinguish the real from the fake....but as far as fakes I feel there is 3 types out there to clearly stay away from....the one in the kennedy photo is a famous style out there....very bubbly...then theres Marinos which has more sharper points in certain parts of the auto with a drop off  "M"....and then theres the short half moon with the tight lower bottoms and curved 4th portion of the "M" as seen mostly on williams mantle balls or mantle 500 home run club balls or photos....education is key in this industry espcially when mantle is involved.....mantle is number 3 out of 10 top forged sports autos out there....all should keep that in mind as an autograph collector...my first mantle ball i ever purchased was a fake....as a matter of fact my first 3-4 autos i ever purchased were fakes....always purchase from people you can trust....dont always assume a cheap autos authentic either

Nice write-up, Cee-Gee.

I have never "educated" buyers about autographs mainly because I didn't want to give the forgers any hints to improve on their forgeries, but even with all of the Mantle "education" on Mantle autographs out there, all of the forgers trip up somewhere.  99% of Mantle forgeries are fairly easy to spot.   Even Marino's Mantle forgeries had obvious flaws.  The below is a "Marino" Mantle.

The Mantle forgeries at that other (I will not name them) auction site are horrific and obvious and yet a so-called "Forensic Investigator" forensically passes them as authentic.

Heres a great guide to go by if your looking into purchasing a mantle...if it looks like this famous forgery head for the hills....purchasing autos is all about education....chances are sadly but true if your an unsuspected collector and purchased 10 autos from uncertified sellers and auctions chances are half or more of those 10 are fakes...ive been doing this for long enough to know the difference now...after getting burned on some of the top names of all time...it happens to everyone and the crooks far out way the honest sellers or distributors...if you own 100s of autos chances are some fakes slipped in sadly....it takes a long time to be "in a way" a forensic document examiner in your own right checking for so many signs of characteristic forgery trates...as pressure and flow and such not to give away info to the crooks....but all in all it is possible to get an uncertified authentic Mantle as I have in the past...you need to know what to look for and the difference between the good the bad and the ugly
