"Coaches Corner" ? Selling at my Local Mall.....

Okay I got out of my office a little early on Thursday because one it was my birthday and the other I had to deliver parts to a couple of companies and I had an appointment with my lawyer.

So I figured I had a little time left to drop by the mall and get some dinner and then walk around. So I notice a lot of collectibles being sold by vendors in the middle of the walkways so I started browsing and all the way at the end I see autographs being sold and at first I was excited but then not so much.

Mainly because after I get down there I see what look to be tons of rare to very rare autographs and these are some of the hardest to get and some of the most expensive and this is just the sports side I haven't even hit the celebrity side yet.

Anyway I start browsing and he has (lost count) so many Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth it is ridiculous. Then I see a basketball signed by Michael Jordon and another signed by Larry Bird WHAT?. Plus they are sitting on his table wrapped in plastic and taped up. I wanted to take pictures but he ran me off. I saw at least 10 Mickey Mantle items for sell and he had Babe Ruth baseballs in a BIN!

I started thumbing through the photo albums and just giggled and he gave me a nasty look. ;-)

But one of the main things that caught my eye was this piece that was framed and very well presented and was supposedly signed by Michael Jackson. Now when he passed away and everybody and their brother was selling the good the bad and the ugly autographs of Michael Jackson I was watching and paying attention.

Okay this had to be the worst Michael Jackson signature I have ever seen. It may have been real just Michael on a bad day but it made most of the fakes look good.

After that I had to walk away shaking my head and feeling sorry for the poor people that would buy anything from this person.

Comment by DB on September 21, 2010 at 7:22am: somewhere around here I added a minnesota based charity that does charity auctions at malls (e.g. simon malls). At one I oberved there were no visbile - these are Pre-Prints, Copies of Originals etc... Some of the bids for Michael Jordan signed 11x14 had reached $1000.00 (I suspect some of the bids were as bogus as the misrepresentation).

Since I had too find out - I would be contacted for winning 2 that I would in turn decline as they were what I suspected - not the Originals. Even though it was intended for a real charity one doesn't need to pay $1000.00 for a $18.95 preprint of Jordan.

I still wonder what will happen when they wak up and realize they don't have an original.
