Check out this video on a autographed Babe Ruth baseball "authenticated (cough, cough)" by Drew Max.

It's an ugly (the kind Coach's Corner sells every month) Babe Ruth forgery that was purchased for $1450.00 by a gentleman named Jim Clemmons.

I believe the Babe Ruth forgery was purchased under the Proxibid.com auction platform.

I have absolutely no sympathy for the buyer (Jim Clemmons).

The buyer (Jim Clemmons) isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.  He wanted $50,000 because someone said "it could be worth $50,000 if authentic."

He should have accepted AAU's offer of $1450.00 and run.

Yeah... I noticed that too as I'm sure the camera man and editor did... it's no accident that was made clear on the video.

Reminds me of the old 60 minutes interviews when Mike Wallace was sitting with some shady executive or politician and they were sweating bullets. LOL

Why doesn't Drew "the magnifier" Max ever submit to interviews or questioning? Whenever I have heard of someone contacting AAU with a complaint, it's this guy Marc Goldman who responds. 

The Goldman interview reminds me of the old Marx Brothers line...

I love reading some of the creepy comments along with the News 8 story/video. Trying to defend AAU or make the reporter look like she did something wrong. Likely the same cast of slugs who come out of the woodwork to smear honest authenticators and sellers. This is the dirty underbelly of the forgery industry.

Obviously Jimmy Spence was not basing his opinion on the price paid. He asked that question AFTER he had made his evaluation and it was just a way to let the buyer know he had a clunker.

In my view, a credible authenticator should approach every autograph from the perspective that it could be fake and find indicators that point to the conclusion it is real. The autograph needs to prove itself good.

Yet, Marc Goldman is confronted with the objective facts about the age of the ball, the fact that it looks like it was signed yesterday, and the opinion of a respected expert... and he is still sticking to his guns that it is real! The exact opposite of what an authenticator should do. Just how much proof would it take to get them to admit the ball is questionable? 

There is a reason why no respected auction houses feature AAU Letters of Authenticity. Heritage, Christies, RR, Sothebys... And there is a reason Drew Max is no longer on Pawn Stars.

Antiquities?  Thats the store that Pete Rose sets up in... IF they are not legit he should go somewhere else, because I would bet most ppl would say "if Pete is there then it must be a legit store."  I wouldnt want my autographs being sold out of a store that is not on the up and up.. Thats how Pete makes a living.
