Coach's Corner-Morales: Real or Forgeries?

This set has every autograph authenticated by forensic document examiner Christopher Morales in a recent Coach's Corner auction.

The price each item sold for is listed in it's name. (We downloaded the images while the sale was still on, so the price in the screen shot will be lower).

What is your opinion on the authenticity of each item? You can click on the photos once they display and a full-screen image is often available.

Please give collectors a day to give their opinions before you give yours—thanks!

I believe all are forgeries.

Have any of you looked at this Coaches corner site, what a joke! There's mis-spellings all over the descriptions, photo's are blurry, diction is from a 8th grader. So this Chris Morales was a secret service agent? He lost or quit a federal job? Thanks Steve for showing all this...

DB, thanks. Here's a link to the ball you're referring to on Coach's Corner: http://myccsa.com/Lot.aspx?LotID=193114

Thanks for the add Steve - what is troubling with what I see there - are they indicating that it is an authentic jersey, ball, item etc.. as in it is an Authentic Majestic Jersey -vs- what's on the Jersey has an Authentic COA and from whom. Case in point the Keith Hernandiz http://myccsa.com/Lot/202/keith-hernandez-hand-signed-aaa-certified... is a prime example of a "...AAA authentic jersey books ..." questionable item. BTW, isn't triple A a car club anyway ;-) All kidding aside, I think the AAA is part of the SportsMemoribillia.com site and they do offer COAs on the signature as well as the item.

Travis, how do you know that? Ask those people to join and post.

Steve, I cannot confirm what travis says. However, when I just spoke with them they gave me the PSA/DNA Cert Number as 103675 as she was allegedly looking right at Lot #1 or so she indicated. Here is the result from PSA - PSA/DNA Certification Number 103675 was not found in the PSA/DNA Certification Database. If you believe this to be incorrect, please check the number and try again.

DB, would you mind confirming the number w/CCSA? Let's make sure they didn't misread it to you, and I'll ask PSA/DNA to do a manual check. We'll make sure this isn't just innocent human error.

That was quick, it's an I not a One (1) and comes back as authentic according to PSA/DNA. PSA/DNA Authentication Services it is our opinion that the signature(s) is/are genuine. According to the Certification Database, this item is defined as follows:

Primary Signer: BABE RUTH

Other Signers: BEN CHAPMAN
ENOS SLAUGHTER
LOU GEHRIG
CARL ERSKINE
RIP COLLINS

Stitching: Red/Blue Result/Grade: 5.5

Whew! DB, thanks for checking that out for all of us.

Steve -et all; sorry about the flurry of comments but I never know if I will get back on something expeditiously or not. Presuming PSA/DNA has done their job then there is support for the authenticity. One thing to notice (Steve or anyone else, correct me if I am wrong) on PSA/DNA's cert's is that they Authenticate the Primary or the "known signator". Althougth they give the impression that all in the use of the plural below they still list the others as Other Signers. Notice that they don't even reference Harry Geisel which is right below Ruth's signature.

I encountered this issue with a Pro Football Team Helmet that had an Auction LOA (which had problems as was supposedly validated by Steve Grad - it was more a "rubber stamp" per se) that would eventually get a FULL LOA but again only Key Signers are certified and the rest fall under "other Signers" thus they are really not certified no matter what PSA/DNA smoke they try to blow up your part where the sun don't shine!
